Sweet Onion?!!!???

I once saw an American film in which a group of teenagers went to a movie.
In the theatre one of the boys took out an onion, bit it off and chewed it deliciously.
And I was SHOCKED!!
How can he do that?
An onion?!!?

So last year when a friend of mine went back from Florida, I brought up this topic.
And she said there's this kind of sweet onion which you can just chew it like that,
without any stinking characteristics at all.
And I said Hmmmmmm!!!

This year when she came from Florida, during our conversation,
out of the blue, she just handed me this SWEET ONION!!!
She said they can be grown in only a few places in the USA.
And the one she brought me is only the second best or something.
